May Ball is one of the highlights of every St Andrews student’s social calendar, and the event this year is sure to be a fun way to close out the academic year. The ball has been hosted by the Kate Kennedy Club since the late 1980s, and though it is a regular event on most people’s social calendars, May Ball 2019 will not cease to up its game and impress its guests.
In regard to what each ticket-holder can expect, classic guests will be able to enjoy unlimited access to three funfair rides, transport to and from Kinkell Byre, and a lounge area inside Kinkell. Guests can also choose to dance all night in the main room to a variety of music that would suit everyone’s tastes, featuring a special live show from Lost Frequencies at 10:45pm until midnight.
VIP guests can expect a champagne reception hosted by the members of the club, a separate clear tent accompanied with a separate bar area to avoid queues, a lounging area, complementary sweets, and DJs, as well as access to everything that a classic ticket-holder can enjoy. Though there are certainly more perks in having a VIP ticket, it is clear that both standard and VIP tickets holders will be in for a lovely evening on Sunday.
Giving an insight into the music that people can look forward to, ball convener Yasmina Souaid said, “BPM will open up the night to set the atmosphere, followed by Lost Frequencies. Expats will then close out the night with a combination of pop remixes combined with throwback tunes and so much more. The music line-up has been made in a way to suit everyone’s music taste, allowing the dance floor to never feel empty. Music is part of the main elements for a successful night. That is why we’ve made sure to adhere to everyone’s desires.”
This year’s event sounds jam packed with the exciting staples of previous years’ events, as well as some new elements to add to the intrigue. May Ball is also a fun excuse to wear spring-time outfits, go on some amusement park rides, and have one last hurrah with your mates before exam stress sets in. Souaid and the rest of the team are excited to host everyone that is attending and say that “to not miss out on an amazing night is simply the best advice we could give.”
