Cromars of St Andrews has retained its title as Scotland’s best fish and chip shop for the second time.
The shop has been awarded the top spot in Seafish’s National Fish and Chip Shop Awards for Scotland, and is now in the running for the top UK award alongside nine other regional winners.
Wendy Frame from Cromars said of the win, “We are absolutely delighted today with our Scottish win […]. Our team have worked so hard and it’s a huge boost for everyone.”
The candidates for the award were judged on a number of criteria including menu development, innovation, sustainable sourcing and staff training, as well as being subject to an unannounced audit and appraisal. The final winner for the UK will be announced at a ceremony in London in January.
Marcus Coleman, chief executive at Seafish, said of the 10 finalists, “I can safely say that their skill and dedication is outstanding — they are a true representation of the crème de la crème of our industry and sum up perfectly why British fish and chips are, and will always be, the best in the world.”
