A University of St Andrews student was assaulted by a group of four individuals on the evening of Friday 7 April, according to police. A Police Scotland spokeswoman said that four individuals have been arrested following the assault.
The 20-year-old victim said the incident occurred in Hepburn Gardens just after midnight as he was walking from his residence to town. The assailants were 17 and 18 years old, according to the police spokeswoman.
“The student sustained minor injuries in the assault,” the same spokeswoman said in an email statement.
The case has been referred to the procurator fiscal.
This assault follows a spate of egging of university housing around town.
Before spring break, another St Andrews student was also allegedly assaulted by a group of youths.
Police have confirmed that there is an ongoing investigation into the earlier incident, which involved a University student being assaulted after asking a group of teenagers for directions on Abbey Walk Road.
