Students’ Association elections potentially pushed back

The Students’ Association’s annual elections are potentially to be pushed back until after spring break.

In plans currently under consideration, the elections would be moved back in order to allow candidates more time to prepare their campaigns over the holiday period. This would avoid problems encountered in the past such as candidates missing classes in order to prepare their campaign materials.

This would also shorten the period between new sabbaticals being elected and starting the handover and training process; the length of this period has been criticised by past sabbaticals.

The plans have yet to be submitted to the Student Councils (SRC and SSC) and so are still unconfirmed.

However Saints LGBT have taken the plans to heart, having fixed the date of their Glitterball event for what would be the elections results night if the dates remain unchanged.
