After it was revealed in February that the British Golf Museum had been approved by Fife Council to expand its grounds upwards on the Bruce Embankment, work has finally begun on the new rooftop café.

The newest addition to the building has been designed to sit 80 people, and is to have an outdoor terrace, which will have stunning panoramic views of West Sands beach. In addition to the café developments, the museum entrance, reception and shop areas are due to be refurbished.

It is hoped that these new improvements will attract even more tourists to this museum, which had previously earned a five star rating by VisitScotland. The modernisation and expansion of current facilities should enhance the visitor experience, and appeal to those looking for refreshments by the sea. Despite having a host of coffee shops around town, most will envy the location of the new café.

Construction is set to be finished next year with the museum scheduled to reopen to the public in June 2015 in time for when the Open Championship returns to St. Andrews.
