Opening Ball

This Saturday sees the return of the Opening Ball and the perfect introduction to life at St Andrews. The Kate Kennedy Club promise a night of endless entertainment and dancing as Lower College Lawn is transformed into the ultimate venue. Highland Pipers, champagne, and ‘surprise acts’ yet to be announced promise a great night.

Luvians Wine Fair

With over 200 wines, beers, spirits and ciders on offer, Scotland’s oldest independent wine fair has something for everyone. Tickets are £15 and include drink tasters, nibbles from Luvians’ own deli, plus expert advice from 18 knowledgeable ex-hibitors. On top of that, a 10% discount on all purchases provides the perfect excuse to stock up. Pop in to Luvians on Market Street to get your ticket for the event on 4 October.

Transition Network Roadshow

Transition St Andrews aims to en-courage students and community members to reduce their carbon footprint and live sustainably. On the 10 and 11 October, Transition St Andrews will be hosting a variety of workshops and exchanges open to all. If you’re keen to get involved, check out the programme on their website where you can also register for the events.

Karaoke at the Union

Every Friday from 9pm in Sandy’s Bar. Whether you have the voice of an angel or just fancy a good old sing-along, entertainment is guaranteed.

Forgan’s Ceilidh Night

Another weekly event to get excited about. Every Friday night from 10:30 pm Forgan’s hosts ‘The Shoogle’, a beginners friendly night of Scottish dance. Go along and learn how to dance like a true Scot: it’s a skill that will serve you well in St Andrews. Kilts optional.

Foreign Service Officer, US Embassy, Mali

Join David Linfield, Foreign Service Officer from the US Embassy in Mali, at the Careers Centre on 6 October at 5 pm for a brief presentation and discussion about his role, career path, and activities. Learn about the organisation, and how David got to where he is now.

Law Fair 2014

It’s never too early to start planning your future. Suitable for students of all years and disciplines, aspiring lawyers can head along to St Andrews Town Hall on Wednesday 8 October from noon until 3pm for all they need to know about conver-sion courses, training contracts and sponsorship opportunities.

A Performance of Howl

On 7 October the St Andrews Literary Society hosts a performance of Howlat the Barron Theatre. A night of culture and literary education awaits. The performance begins at 7pm, but head along early to bag a good seat.
