Both The Adamson and Cromar’s Fish and Chip shop picked up prizes at the Food Awards Scotland last week, winning Restaurant of the Year and Best Café/Bistro of the Year North East respectively.
Meanwhile, having been named the nation’s favourite ice cream parlour earlier this year, Janettas Gelateria has been placed on the shortlist for both Family Business of the Year and Retail Business of the Year at The Courier Business Awards. Despite being pitted against last year’s winner of the Best Retailer Award, the regular queues outside its door would indicate that it stands a good chance of claiming at least one of these prizes.
In other news, the St Andrews Brewery has been placed on the shortlist for Young Business of the Year, having been consistently busy since it opened last year. The judges include the director of Diageo and the managing director of Lloyds Banking Group with the results due to be announced on 14 November. The Brewery was also named the best pub in The Saint’s Food and Drink Guide 2014.
