Cromars fish and chip shop has been shortlisted for the title of independent takeaway fish and chip shop of the year at the 2015 national fish and chip awards.

The Union Street shop is one of six Scottish chip shops to make the 60-strong shortlist after initial judging. The UK-wide winner will be announced in January.

Colin Cromar, manager and proprietor, said: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for the top six. We’re a reasonably young team here, we’ve only had 10 months of training, so it’s a great boost for the team.”

Mr Cromar is no stranger to success, having previously owned the award winning Anstruther Fish Bar, which he sold in 2003.

A relatively new business in St Andrews, Cromars opened last year in the shop space previously held by Fritto fish and chip shop.
