Ewan Brown, the University’s senior governor, has been recognised in the Queen’s birthday honours.

He will be knighted for his contributions to business and public life and for his philanthropy in Scotland.

Mr Brown is chairman of Scottish Financial Enterprise, a body that represents financial services in Scotland, and has held the position of senior governor on the University Court for eight years since August 2006.

Mr Brown was recently reappointed as senior governor for a further two years.

A University spokesperson said: “We’re delighted for Ewan. It is well-deserved recognition for service to public life in Scotland over many years.”
