Every year, University of St Andrews students elect the charities they want the University of St Andrews Charities Campaign to support in the following academic year. All proceeds from events put on in that year by the Charities Campaign benefit those six charities. Last year, the Charities Campaign raised over £90,000.
This year’s aim is to raise over £100,000 for Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, Macmillan Cancer Support, Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS), and Cancer Research UK.
Nominations for next year’s charities are now open. The student body elects five of the six charities at the AGM, which takes place in mid-April. The final charity is chosen by the newly installed Convenor. The nominations for these charities close in mid-March. Only one person must nominate a charity for that charity to be considered, and both undergraduates and post-graduates can make nominations for international, national, and local charities.
If you would like to nominate a charity, e-mail email@example.com.
